Jim Dudley Quarter Horses

The Dudley family, Jim, Renae and Shannon, attended the 2000 AQHYA World Cup Competition in Portogruaro, Italy. Shannon was a gold medal winner in Hunter Under Saddle and Team USA won the All-Around Championship!

The Dudley History

Jim Dudley Farm Jim and Renae Dudley and daughter, Shannon, call home to Latimer, Iowa, a small rural community 80 miles north of Des Moines. Their farm is directly located on I-35 at exit #165. Jim Dudley Quarter Horses is a training and breeding facility that supports over 100 head of American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses. In addition to the stallions that are currently standing at the Dudleys, Jim and Renae have owned and stood at service such great stallions as: Scotch Bar Time, Roping Chute, Skips Assist and Different Kinda Time. Their brood mare band is primarily comprised of the daughters and granddaughters of these fine stallions. Jim specializes in sales of all-around horses and pleasure horse prospects.

Jim began his career in horses at a very young age. He successfully exhibited his youth horses to national titles and championships. He helped found and organize the first Iowa Quarter Horse Association youth association.

In 1972, Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. He was an active member of Block and Bridle, Alpha Zeta honorary fraternity and Alpha Gamma Rho social fraternity. While attending ISU, Jim was exclusively hired to do the corrective farrier work for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

After graduation, he continued his farrier work and began training and selling Quarter horses. For nearly a decade, Jim has been officially recognized by the AQHA as a "Leading Breeder of Performance Horses". In 1994 Jim received the NSBA "Jack Benson " award for services given to the promotion of western pleasure horses and the pleasure horse industry.

Jim can be personally credited with training and exhibiting many AQHA champions, futurity champions, and Congress and World Champions. He finds particular joy in training and showing western riding and reining horses.

Jim is a National Director for the American Quarter Horse Association, and a member of the AQHA Show and Contest standing committee, the AQHA Professional Horsemen Association, the AQHA Breeders Referral Program. He is a past president of the National Snaffle Bit Association, and current board member. He is an approved APHA, NRHA, NSBA and AQHA judge with certifications in roping and cutting. In addition to these national associations, Jim is a member of numerous other equine associations, including the IQHA, MQHA, QHAN, WQHA, NCRHA, the Iowa Horse Council, the American Horse Council, the Iowa Race Horse Association, and the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association. Jim is also a licensed auctioneer and an equine appraiser.

Renae is also a graduate of Iowa State University and has a M.S., in Professional Studies Education with a specialization in Learning Disabilities. She was a classroom resource instructor for eleven years, and retired from teaching to become a full time farm manager. Renae is a carded NSBA judge, and enjoys judging open and 4-H competitions, as well as performing as a clinician at these events. She is currently the IQHA affiliate chairman for the AQHA RIDE PROGRAM, and is an advertising sales representative for the HORSEPOWER magazine. She is currently involved in a joint venture to create and market a professionals equine software program for income management and record keeping. The program will be available on line and in select retail establishments beginning Fall 2001.

As an equestrian, Renae is a current member of NSBA,APHA,AQHA, IQHA and several other state and regional horse organizations. She has competed at a national level including the AQHA World Show, All-American QH Congress, and many state and local futurities.Her accomplishments include a Reserve World Champion, several ROM, futurity winners, and superior event horses. Renae enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, and loves the ocean.

Shannon has followed her family's footsteps not only as an accomplished showman, but as an Iowa State University student where she is currently a freshman Materials Science Major. Shannon and her 1991 gelding, Different Kinda Time, won nearly every AQHA Youth Program Award, and she was honored as being one of five team members to compete at the 2000 AQHA World Cup Competition. Shannon has recently teamed up with Sumkinda Asset to complete in her last year in youth competition. She and "Otis" were 2000 Reserve Congress Champions in Hunter Under Saddle.
